Scholarships & Awards

Every year, FOLMADS awards graduating seniors from LHS scholarship and awards.

Sandra L. Davies Unsung Hero Award in Music

In 2010, FOLMADS created the Sandra L. Davies Unsung Hero Award in memory of long-time FOLMADS volunteer and past board member, Sandra Davies who passed away suddenly in 2009.  The Unsung Hero award is presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated "selfless dedication" to the music department during his or her time at Lexington High School.  The music faculty chooses the recipient; the award of $100 is presented at the Friday performance of LHS Spring Pops. In 2015, two seniors were selected.

Sandra L. Davies Unsung Hero Award in Visual Arts

In the spring of 2014, FOLMADS created a second Sandra L. Davies Unsung Hero Award for the Visual Arts Department.  The award is presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated "selfless dedication" to the visual arts department during his or her time at Lexington High School.  The visual arts faculty chooses the recipient; the award of $100 is presented at the Senior Awards night in the spring. In 2015, one senior was selected.

Bass-DiDomenico Scholarship

This fund has been established to honor the memories of S. R. Major Bass, a Lexington resident who died in the Vietnam War, and Joseph DiDomenico who was a long-time choral director and music department chair in the Lexington Public Schools. The $3000 scholarship is awarded at the annual LHS Spring Pops Concert to an outstanding senior who plans to major in music or music education in college.

Income for this fund comes from several sources:
  • individuals make donations
  • the sale of sodas/water at Pops
  • the Valentine’s Day singing valentine project
  • the winter a cappella jamboree
