Wind Ensemble
Performs at Carnegie Hall

Picture
Lexington High School’s Wind Ensemble recently performed at the New York Wind Band festival, a highly selective event, at Carnegie Hall.
The 54-member ensemble, directed by Jared Cassedy, was in New York from Feb. 27 to March 2 and gave its concert on March 1 alongside two other groups – the Symphonic Youth Wind Orchestra from Cologne, Germany, and the Capital University Symphonic Winds from Columbus, Ohio. It was the first time the LHS group had played at Carnegie Hall, said Cassedy, also the K-12 Performing Arts coordinator for Lexington Public Schools.
“When we performed that evening, it was the performance of a lifetime,” Cassedy said.
